Want to learn better cooking skills? Need to learn how to budget those expensive groceries? Is your New Year’s Resolution to eat healthier and eat out less often?
Well, Washington County Connections offers a 6-session nutrition class in Washington County called ‘Cooking Matters’ and is part of a program offered by Operation Frontline and Share Our Strength.
Cooking Matters teaches adults how to prepare nutritious food safely and shop sensibly on a limited budget. A course instructor will teach cooking skills, nutrition information, and food budgeting strategies that will last a lifetime. Participants will receive FREE groceries at the end of each class to make the recipes taught in class for their own families. Each class will also include hands-on meal preparation along with valuable nutrition information and kitchen incentives. When you graduate from this course you will receive a wonderful high-quality chef’s knife.
Operation Frontline is a program that is a division of Share Our Strength a national organization. Operation Frontline is sponsored by the ConAgra Foods Foundation and provides nutrition education programs to more than 7,000 families a year. As a whole Colorado has the highest rate of increase in childhood poverty in the nation growing by 85% since 2000. Cooking Matters has reached over 26,500 individuals and families throughout Colorado since the program began.
